Effect of Transition Metals Addition on the Nickel Oxide Catalyst toward Reduction Behaviour in Carbon Monoxide Atmosphere

The chemical reduction progression behaviour of transition metals (Mo, Zr, W, Ce, and Co) doped on NiO was studied using temperature programmed (TPR) analysis. A wet impregnation method applied to synthesise the series catalysts. progress catalysts attained by a reductant gas at concentration 40% v/v CO/N2. X-ray diffraction (XRD) employed determine composition reduced phases. Undoped 384℃ obtain cubic phase NiO. It observed that Ce/NiO exhibited lowest 370℃ among all This phenomenon might be due higher surface area compared undoped NiO, which facilitated faster reaction. rest (Co/NiO, Mo/NiO, W/NiO Zr/NiO) demonstrated New peaks in XRD pattern were only for Mo/NiO W/NiO, associated with monoclinic MoO2 WO2.72 phases, respectively. formation new compounds or more stable nickel alloys led slower reaction than Therefore, most efficient catalyst promoting Ni under CO atmosphere.
